Preparation underway to celebrate 12th National Voters' Day in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district administration has initiated steps to celebrate the 12th National Voters' Day on January 25, 2022. The National Voters' Day is celebrated on January 25 every year since 2011, across the country to mark the foundation day of Election Commission of India, that is, January 25, 1950. The main purpose of the celebration of the event is to encourage, facilitate and maximize enrolment, especially for the new voters. Dedicated to the voters of the country, the day is utilized to spread awareness among voters and for promoting informed participation in the electoral process. New voters are felicitated and handed over their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) in the National Voters' Day functions.
In connection with the celebration of the event, the Lakhimpur district administration held a meeting in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office on Tuesday.
The meeting decided to organize football, song and dance competitions in view of creating awareness among the voters on the occasion. The students of Higher Secondary First Year, Second Year and BA First Semester can participate in the three competition events. Football teams of the students concerned organizing matches on the occasion are asked to submit a 50-minute video along with photographs to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Lakhimpur on or before January 5.
The students achieving success in the competitions will be awarded in National Voters' Day celebration on January 25, 2022, stated a press release issued by DIPRO in charge Rima Koushik.
